A pair of Bald Eagles had built their nest in a tall pine tree in Venice, Florida. Although it was within the city limits, it was difficult to detect unless you knew where to look. I had been photographing the three large chicks, which were nearing the time when they take their first flights. This parent brought a fish to the nest, and then landed on a bare branch in a nearby pine tree. Having watched his nest from that high vantage point for over an hour and a half, he finally took off to return to the nest, and I was able to capture the lift off in the morning sun.
